The Southeastern Conference is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, operating in the southeastern part of the United States. A Division I conference in the NCAA, the conference is one of the most successful financially, consistently leading all conferences in revenue distribution to its members including a record $132.5 million for the 2008–2009 fiscal year. At an average of nearly seven per year, the SEC has won 131 national team championships since 1990. Florida won the SEC’s first national title of the year with its win in the BCS National Championship Game in football. Georgia’s Gym Dogs won their fifth straight gymnastics championship. Auburn captured its eighth men’s swimming and diving national championship. Tennessee took its second national championship since 2005 year when the women’s indoor track & field squad won the national title. In the sport of baseball, LSU won its sixth national championship.
